Our artwork, Trasure, its name comes from a combination of two words, trash and treasure. We believe that some food that we consider as unappetizing leftovers or waste might be another’s life saving meal. Our idea comes from the contradictory situation whereby the food wasted by the public is considered as trash but also simultaneously as treasure. We hope that this art piece can raise people’s awareness about hunger and take actions for it.

Why Trasure ?

Hunger always involves emotion, especially anger and frustration. We might feel negative emotions once we skip one meal, let alone the people in the poverty area. Therefore, our slogan “I'm hungry !!!” represents the voice that someone willing to grab a bit while they couldn’t. As for the bad situation we want to show to everyone, which is that the poor are eating unbelievable things, we will dig deeper in the following presentation.

About Trasure

The “normal” food people consume everyday is what those in famine’s precious.

Our artwork aims to express how it is like being physically familiar with hunger and what they might consume in an extreme situation. We decided to make a table of meals, showing some famine people usually only has little or no food and leftovers food, which are hard and unappetizing, or even mud to eat. The table of meals will be formed by materials from nature, for instance, stones, leaves and so on. These materials will represent different kinds of food items.

The five major meals:

Thick branches in the bag authentically express the chicken bones, which have less meat on it and are leftovers.

Small rocks in the bowl reflect the

rice that becomes tough and rough.

The yellow and brown leaves are representing vegetables that might last overnight or last for a period that nobody eats it.

Last, we use mud to indicate other kinds of unappetizing food items while we aren’t able to give any sort of food items a representation.

Solutions

In conclusion, we know that in the world still have a lot of people suffer hunger and try to survive. Dealing with this issue is not easy but we offer three ways to assist people face hunger and deal with it.

Donation

The easiest way to solve hunger is to donate our money to famine countries. Each person has the ability to do this action and it is not difficult for people whether you are rich or poor. People can  donate a small amount of money every month.  WFP (World Food Programme)the largest humanitarian organization. This organization's mission is saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to help build peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflicts, disasters and the devastating effects of climate change.

Art aggregate human consciousness on hungriness

Through our art aggregate human consciousness on hungriness
Another solution is through our art to make more people conscious of hungriness. When we do artwork, that relative with hunger can convey our idea to the audience. To make people comprehensive in the modern world, numerous people still suffer hunger because of war, climate change or global supply chains. Using art aggregates human consciousness on hunger that makes people concerned about hunger issues and willing to contribute their power to help people experiencing famine.

Provide technology of agriculture

Last but not least, provide agricultural technology to some low economic countries. Some areas could not handle hunger because their country doesn’t have assets and technology to produce adequate food for all citizens. As a result, if governments are willing to offer technology of agriculture not all solve famine problem but also to strengthen the economy provide better quality of life of people.
